International recognition

Would the international community recognize Québec’s independence?

Yes. The right of self-determination of peoples is now solidly enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations. It is rigorously respected. Only 51 member states founded the UN in 1945, whereas now the UN has 193 members. Since Québec seeks to become an independent country through a peaceful and democratic process, without any violence, the international community will necessarily recognize its independence.
